Biography:

William C. Bovender is a partner in the firm’s corporate and litigation practice areas.  He is a member of the American, Tennessee, and Kingsport Bar Associations.  Currently, Mr. Bovender is a member of the 12-person Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee, which administers the Rules of Professional Conduct as to all attorneys licensed to practice law in Tennessee.  He has served as a member and Chair of the Tennessee Bar Association Standing Committee on The Protection of The Public From the Unauthorized Practice of Law, and is the author of “Treating the UPL Epidemic”, which appeared in the October, 2006 edition of the Tennessee Bar Journal.  He is a Tennessee Bar Foundation Fellow and a former member of the House of Delegates of the Tennessee Bar Association.  His civil activities include having served as President and Director of the Greater Kingsport Chamber of Commerce; Director of the Kingsport Chamber Foundation; President and Director of the Paramount Theatre Board in Bristol, TN/VA; Board Member of the Johnson City/Jonesborough/Washington County, Tennessee, Chamber of Commerce; Board Member and Counsel of the Hands On! Museum in Johnson City, Tennessee.  Mr. Bovender is also active in the UNC Chapel Hill Carolina Club of Tri-Cities, TN/VA, and is a former Chairman of the Deaconate of First Presbyterian Church in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Born in Hickory, North Carolina, Mr. Bovender currently resides in Kingsport, Tennessee, with his wife and two children.
