S. Morris Hadden
Morris Hadden is a member of the Firm's Litigation Group and is the former Managing Partner of Hunter, Smith and Davis, LLP. During the past 40 years as a trial lawyer, he has handled litigation matters from Mountain City to Knoxville and Chattanooga, trying over 200 jury trials and numerous other non-jury matters. The civil litigation matters which he has handled included personal injury, products and premise liability, business litigation, professional negligence, and insurance coverage issues.
Mr. Hadden is a Rule 31 General Civil Mediator approved by the State of Tennessee. He believes that his past experience in civil disputes coupled with his varied legal practice over an extended period of time make him exceptionally qualified to bring unique insight, wisdom and practical experience to assist in any type of dispute. Also, he is available to serve as a fact finder in civil litigation.
Steve Darden is a member and Chair of the Firm’s Labor and Employment Law Section and is likewise a listed Rule 31 General Civil Mediator in Tennessee. He has also completed 40 hours of mediation training in North Carolina from the highly regarded firm Mediation, Inc.
Mr. Darden has demonstrated, through public service as Mayor, Vice-Mayor and member of the board of Commissioners of Johnson City, Tennessee, notable listening skills as well as the ability to broker compromise solutions and effectively negotiate. As a mediator, Steve combines his experience as a labor and employment lawyer with the skills and training necessary to serve as an effective neutral mediator in the employment arena or in general or business-related disputes as well (outside the family law area).
Many employers are finding that internal dispute resolution procedures present a cost effective and efficient manner of resolving conflict in the workplace between employees or between the employer and employee. Mr. Darden is available to serve as the mediator in such situations, as well as in claims that have found their way into the court system, the administrative arena, or within an arbitration context.
Mr. Darden is also available as an arbitrator upon mutual agreement of the parties to a dispute in which they seek the decision of a 3rd party following the presentation of factual evidence and presentation of legal arguments.
Suzanne S. Cook
Suzanne Cook is a member of the Firm’s Litigation group and is Chair of the Firm’s Family Law Practice Group. She is a Tennessee Rule 31 Listed General Civil and Family Mediator, and she completed approximately 100 hours of training in civil and family mediation techniques and principles. Ms. Cook has been listed as a civil mediator since January 29, 2008, and as a family mediator since April 29, 2008. Ms. Cook has represented clients in civil mediation as well as has served as the mediator in civil and family matters for parties who have chosen or been court ordered to participate in alternative dispute resolution.
Ms. Cook is also available as an arbitrator upon mutual agreement of the parties to a dispute in which they seek the decision of a third party following the presentation of factual evidence and legal arguments. Ms. Cook is an approved arbitrator for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee.
Jason A. Creech
Jason Creech is a member of the Firm’s Family Law Group. He has literally practiced law in Tennessee from Memphis to Mountain City. He continues to practice in these areas and is a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Mediator.
